With “Game of Thrones” sitting out this Emmy cycle and so many new dramas expected to break through, “We’re gonna see a revolution” in Best Drama Series, declares Gold Derby editors Chris Beachum, Marcus James Dixon and Daniel Montgomery. We debate all of the 2017 Emmy frontrunners, and even some important underdogs, during an in-depth slugfest on the seven top drama categories.

HBO’s “Veep” has won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series for the last two years in a row (2015-2016), and repeats have become standard operating procedure in this category following three straight wins for “30 Rock” (2007-2009), followed by five in a row for “Modern Family” (2010-2014). So is “Veep” a lock to win again? Gold Derby editors Tom O’Neil, Paul Sheehan, Daniel Montgomery and Marcus James Dixon disagree on who will take the prize.

Will Jeffrey Tambor ("Transparent") go three for three at the Emmys for Best Comedy Actor? Or can Donald Glover ("Atlanta"), Anthony Anderson ("Black-ish") or someone else take him down? Gold Derby editors Tom O'Neil, Paul Sheehan, Daniel Montgomery and Marcus James Dixon debate Best Comedy Actor at the 2017 Emmys. Who's right?

While the Best Drama Series race at the Emmys is jam-packed with new shows like “The Crown,” “Stranger Things,” “This is Us” and “Westworld” looking to assert their dominance right out of the gate, there’s a returning champ hoping to defend his title in the race for Best Drama Actor: Rami Malek (“Mr. Robot”). But he too will have to contend with an onslaught of new and returning competitors, while Claire Foy ("The Crown") and Elisabeth Moss ("The Handmaid's Tale") hope to rise up in the absence of last year's Best Drama Actress winner Tatiana Maslany ("Orphan Black"). Gold Derby editors Tom O’Neil, Paul Sheehan, Daniel Montgomery and Marcus James Dixon disagree on who will take the prizes.
